Catching a Cold, Excess Snot and Puke Hair... Again

Well, I'm afraid Marissa caught her daddy's cold. She started having excess secretions yesterday and she is having an extra hard time sleeping. All the excess snot is causing her to cough more, gag on the snot and then she throws up. She is very crabby and very clingy this morning.

I remind you all of this post in which I talk about her puking in her hair and me having to clean it up by myself. Well, this morning, the same thing happened again. Almost exactly the same way. Ugh! This along with very little sleep in the last few nights and a malfunctioning feeding pump, I had a meltdown. I called Jeremy and he patiently listened to my hysterics, whining and complaining. We hung up, I put my big girl panties on ( I just LOVE that expression!! ;) and got down to the business of cleaning her up.

The world did not fall off its axis. The sun did not stop shining. Marissa's head did not spin around. My house did not implode. I did not die. I guess I need to wear my big girl panties more often.

Please pray that her secretions stay thin and clear and this illness does not go to her lungs. Also pray that I am able to avoid the sickies as well. I have a trach moms get together on Sunday that I desperately want to go to. I love these ladies and our long lost trach mommy, Tina, will be in town for a rare visit. I really need to go see these girls. They help me stay sane. That, and my big girl panties. :)

Enjoy a few pictures from this morning, after I cleaned Marissa's puke hair. By the way, we are having a full-blown "stay in your jammies" day. I think we deserve it!

These are the faces I get now when I tell her to "smile!" She is so funny!!

Knocked out after her morning feeding.  Poor baby.  :(

I'm sorry you girls had such a rough morning. I hope the rest of the day gets better! I woke up last night with a sore throat and I was so worried I would't make it Suday either, when I woke up this morning I felt fine, yay! I'm so excited to see you and catch up!

Oh, Alicia, I will pray that this DOES NOT go into a lung issue. All I can say is I feel you, big time. I think maybe I need to borrow your big girl britches...hang in there!!

On a side note, I found no rinse shampoo is an awesome thing, I got it in our last hospital stay and plan on seeing about getting it with our next trach supply order. Bath time is so much more pleasant.

Wow girl! The thing about big girl panties is that when I need them they are usually in the dirty clothes basket! Love the sleeping angel pic! She is so beautiful! Praying for no more puke hair days! God Bless and we love ya and miss ya!

Yuck. I'm a weanie when it comes to puke. I have to remind myself to offer up those sacrifices. Stay strong. We're praying for her healthy recovery.

Oh the days of puke hair, snotty noses, pukey sheets, sleep deprivation and feeling completely overwhelmed and having total meltdowns! I totally understand and empathize with you. At those times, do what absolutely needs to be done, and then be easy and simple for yourself and everyone involved. I love jamiie days for simpliciy and comfort. OK....you DO have to find the big girl panites....but at the quiet times, it's OK to get rid of them...lol. Love you lots and lots...
Love,
Mom (Nana) & PaPa

Man oh man..... Sorry to hear about your morning. It always seems when you get her going in one direction, God says, "Um no, we're going to throw a curve ball here." But just stick with it and it will be ok.

I'll keep praying it doesn't go into the lungs and you are able to go this weekend. Stay healthy!

Love you,
Auntie Chelle

I'm sorry you both had a rough day. I hope she gets better fast. Have lots of fun with your trach Mommies, you all deserve every second of it!

I am trading all my big girl panties in on a plane ticket to Hawaii!

I'm sorry Marissa is sick! (Faith is too, but no surprise there) Hopefully everyone in the Cortez household is feeling better (and hopefully you don't get it so you can hang out w/us this weekend!)

I'll be thinking of you tonight during the all-night-suctioning routine...(sometimes it helps to know you are not all alone...except when the other person is a friend b/c you don't want it to happen to them!)

Night!
Jen

Hope she gets over this quick and it does not go down into her lungs, I hope you don't get it so you can go have some grown up time. Is Jeremy finally over it? Hope everyone in the house is better fast.

Lots O Love
