Trach Kids Summer Kick-Off Picnic... Whoo!

Wow, that was fun!!  We met up at Belleview Park in Denver and had a picnic lunch, then hung around and played.  Marissa had a blast seeing her old friends, meeting some new friends, and running around barefoot (yes, you read right... BAREFOOT!!  Occupational Therapy is really paying off!  :)  We even rode a train around the park.    Here are some pics from the day.

The group, minus Dawn, Ayden, Gretchen and Celia who were riding the train.

Shandy and Kali who was not feeling well  :(

We were treated to some very special new members, Gretchen (not pictured) and Celia.  They live in Kansas, but Celia's specialists are at TCH Denver, so they come out here pretty often.  We were lucky enough to be able to see them this weekend, as they usually only come out on the week days.

Kevin and his daddy Carlos

Mr. Milo, who is scheduled for decan in July!!  :)
Doesn't he have the coolest hair ever???

Milo and Marissa splashing around

Kali was sooooo over it!  Poor girl

Kevin shading his eyes from the bright sun

Conner (Kevin's little bro) and Ayden.  Ayden is the first of the trach kids to be decannulated, last August

See??  I told you she was barefoot!  :)

Faith and mommy Jen giving BIG smiles!

Miss Noel

Milo showing Noel some love!

Milo and his nurse Tammy.  Have I mentioned Milo has the awesomest hair?  Oh, I have?  Well, it's worth mentioning again.... Milo has the mostest awesomest hair ever!!

Milo and Marissa on the front of the train after the ride.  Wouldn't it be cool if they had actually been able to ride like that?  ;)

Marissa doing her famous "Whoo!"  She sure loved riding the train!

And now, a very cute video of Marissa and Ayden puddle jumpin'

I am so glad we have a group like this to belong to.  Reaching out to others living similar lives is what has saved my sanity.  I love all these kids.  They are ALL rockstars and they are my heroes!

Besides all that, looks like your day was fun! How neat to meet everyone again and get to know new friends!

I love that you guys get together. I think it is so cool to see all of those kids in one vicinity. It seems like Mikan is so different when we take him places (not that that's a bad thing). But it must be neat to be around other people who have similar stories.

So glad things are going well with Marissa's OT - we will keep praying for you and Jeremy!!
