The Girl Who Cried Poop

Ya know, like the boy who cried wolf?

Marissa has gotten very good about letting us know when she thinks she has pooped. All of a sudden, she'll stop what she is doing, look at us, pat her bottom and say "poop!". Problem is, I don't think she knows the difference between a toot and a poop yet. Several false alarms. That's OK with us though. We are just beyond thrilled that she is grasping the concept!

Marissa is showing us it is definitely time to start potty training. Right before her surgery, I was sitting in the living room tinkering on my laptop, paying attention to her but not too intently because she was playing very nicely by herself. Next thing I knew, she had the wipes and a diaper out on the coffee table. She came over to me, put her elbows on my knees, put her chin in her hands, looked up at me and said "poop!". Sure enough, she had pooped. Incredible!! We decided to let her get fully recovered from her surgery before we started making another major change in her life.

Well, now she is feeling better so we went out to Wal Mart and got her a potty chair and a "Potty Time" Elmo video. We are going to get started on this process very soon, so keep us in your prayers! :)

And don't think I forgot about the hairstyle vote for the photo shoot coming up this weekend. I have tallied the votes and we have a winner. I will post about that later!

For all the other challenges you and she have faced, let's hope THIS one is the easiest! And....what's with the suspense with the hairstyle talley!! Come ON!!!! Don't make us wait longer!!! We all poured our hearts and souls into the vote!! lol This is kinda like the presidential vote where we had to wait several months before knowing whether dangling and hanging chads would make the difference between a Republican or Democratic President!!! Come on guys! What's the answer????!!!!!! LOL

I am continually amazed by Marissa's cognitive ability. It is very impressive (but then again, knowing her parent, should we expect anything less?) ;)

Way to go!!!! (and I mean that quite literally)
