Many Surgery Pics and Vids

We all had a very good night. Marissa slept the whole night through, probably due in large part to the Tylenol with Codeine. Jeremy and I would have slept the whole night through if we didn't have to get up and give her pain meds at 12 am and 4 am. Marissa woke up and was happy one minute and grumpy the next, probably due in large part to the fact that it was still 1/2 hour till she got her next pain med.

I have to say that I am very thankful for the trach and g-tube for this particular surgery. The doc said that the two main reasons she keeps kids overnight after a T & A is to make sure their airway is safe and stable (check!) and to make sure they are hydrated well (and check!). Plus, we don't have to wake her up to give her pain meds in the middle of the night. Just squirt it in the g-tube! Works for me!! :)

Right now, she is up and about, being her feisty little self. We are going to enjoy a pajama day while we watch the snow fall outside. Weird that we have had more snow in the last month than we had all Winter! Ahhhh, springtime in the Rockies! We are going to start alternating regular Tylenol and Tylenol with Codeine to try to alleviate some of the constipation Marissa is already dealing with.

On to the pics and vids:

Pay close attention to the next three pictures. First, glasses on, Marissa with a "can you guess what I'm gonna do next?" look on her face.
Next, glasses off, Marissa with a very guilty look on her face.
Last, glasses back on, Marissa kissing Daddy's arm, her way of saying "sorry for hitting you in the face and knocking your glasses off Daddy!" :)

Versed Face

Snugglin' with Daddy post-op.

Telling the nurse to "take a hike!!"

Awww, precious post-op Punkin

The first three videos are of Marissa on Versed (pronounced ver-said). She got the Versed before she went into the OR because she is always so anxious when she gets to the hospital for a procedure. I have never had the pleasure of taking Versed, but from judging how Marissa acts, it's pretty good stuff. There were several times we were watching TV or a movie and she would just stop what she was doing and stare intently at the screen, as if she was seeing a parade of pink and purple polka-dotted elephants. Trippy!!! The last video is of her post-op.

I love her Versed face. It says everything doesn't it? My poor Little Loopy Lucy. I'm so glad she is home and that she slept through the night. And how wonderful is a pajama day!

So glad this surgery is done and she's home. How fortunate we are.

Love and miss all of you.
Kiss that baby for me.

LOL...ROFLOL over the versed face...Grandma Utah is right...that picture says it all!!! Maybe someday you'll know what we that have experienced versed mean when we say....it's a GOOOOOOD drug!! lol. Seriously, Marissa is amazing for all the things she has gone through in her young life and once again, come through with flying colors! And you two have amazed all of us for handling and dealing with ALL of the situations you've been faced with not knowing sometimes what the outcome will be. YEA for the greater possiblity of decanulation!!! I will continue prayers for quick recovery and healing from Marissa's T & A and continued growth to help decan happen soon! Love you guys....
Love,
Nana & PaPa
P.S. Enjoy your PERFECT pajama day...I'm a bit envious that I can't join you!
