Drum Roll Please....

Marissa has the best timing EVER!!  NOT!!!!!

Her pediatrician is on vacation (very well-deserved, that man works way too hard!).  I called this morning to see if I could get a script for a breathing treatment.  The nurse said since the doc was not in, there was no one to write a script.  Besides, with Marissa's history and her trach, the doc would most likely want her to be seen anyway.  So off to Urgent Care we went.

Marissa is negative for... RSV and Strep.  Good news!!

However, Marissa is positive for ................. ready for it? ..................

......Pneumonia!!!   AAGGHHH!!

The good news is that we caught it in the very early stage.  Good thing we went to Urgent Care, huh?  Also, the doc says it is in her right lung, which means that it was not caused by aspiration.  She also thinks it is bacterial and should respond well to antibiotics.  If it is viral, it will just have to run its course, but Marissa will be on antibiotics anyway.

We had to put her on a little bit of oxygen while she was sleeping last night to keep her O2 sats up.  As long as she doesn't get any worse, which she shouldn't because of the antibiotics (unless it is viral, of course!), we won't have to go to the hospital.

All this as Jeremy is getting over what he had!  Aside from some severe sleep deprivation, I am still feeling fit as a fiddle.  Whew!!

Please pray that she starts to get better quickly and we don't have to go to the hospital.

Thanks.

P.S.  19 years ago today, the sweet, gentle, goofy, heavy metal t-shirt and ripped jeans wearing kid who would later become my husband, asked me to be his girlfriend.  Wow, time flies!

I am sorry Marissa's got the big P. Don't worry about the breathing treatment stuff- we have every Rx known to man (Faith lives with pneumonia on a daily basis) so I can bring whatever you need this weekend! Just name your treatment...and she shall have it!!!

Feel better Marissa!!!!

Oh girl, I'm so sorry...that is the pits. Hope she responds well the the meds. Lillian is now having vomit fest 2009...GAAAHHHHH

The two no rinses I have came from the hospital, one is called Aloe Vesta made by ConvaTec and the other is called No Rinse made by CleanLife Products. No Rinse has a web www.norinse.com 800-223 9348
Aloe Vesta is 800-422-8811. HTH, I'll be checking out the website myself. The Aloe Vesta one also doubles at body wash and perineal cleanser. Weird right? I think I like the results of the NO Rinse better, but they both get the job done.

Feel better soon Little Missy!

May I just say that Bill with her big girl panties is mostly invincible? :)

You're always in our prayers and know we love you.

P.S. I can't believe it's been 19 years. How are we getting so old?

Wow Alicia I am sorry to hear she got the dreaded P word. I hope it responds quickly to the antibiotics.

Wow you are making me feel SO old. 19 years, who would have through the preachers’ kid and the punked out LA transplant would have proven everyone wrong. I think it is great.

Lots o love, let me know if there is anything you need.

We caught the RSV bug at our house and spent a good week in the hospital. Not fun, but neither would pneumonia. Hope she is feeling better. But since I am looking at posts from the past, I'm sure she already is.
