Minivan Mom? Say It Ain't So!!

The lease on our Jetta is coming to an end and, with as much as I love that sporty little car, it just isn't equipped to run even a small family like ours around town. It is just too small. To that end, Jeremy has been trying to convince me to get a minivan for about the last six months. I have been strongly resisting because I am just not the minivan kind of gal. We had decided to get a Toyota Sienna because it is all-wheel drive, but I could never fully get used to the idea. It just looks too "minivan" for my taste.

Last weekend I was watching t.v. and a VW commercial came on. I'm sure you have probably seen the one... Brooke Shields talking about how all over the world people are having babies simply for German engineering and to be able to justify getting VW's new minivan. I finally paid attention to that ad and that new minivan looked sweet! It does not look like your typical minivan. So this weekend Jeremy and I went car shopping. We weren't going to pick one up, but just look at them and get an idea of what they were all about.

Well... we ended up signing a lease on a new VW Routan and brought it home on Saturday! Our sales person said we are the first to pick one up in Colorado Springs and possibly the first in Colorado! It is such a cool car with so many cool features. For safety, we are going to put snow tires on it.
Bye-bye sporty...
Hello soccer mom!

While mom and dad were out getting a new car, Marissa had a fun time hangin' out with Auntie Chelle and Uncle Nate.

Looks like they had a great time, huh?

Well it's about TIME you came to the "dark side"....being a soccer Mom car owner!! LOL At least it's "sporty" RED!! Seriously, I think you're going to begin to appreciate the extra room and convenience of a bigger car. That's quite an honor to be the first in Colo. Springs, and maybe in Colorado...to own one of these cars...CONGRATS!! Now, next spring you have GOT to see how it travels long distance to...GLADE PARK and visit Nana & PaPa! Looks like a really COOL "minivan"...love you guys...welcome to the world of "family" cars..lol
Love,
Nana

I had to laugh when I saw the title of this post. I was dead set against mini-vans too. I had a Durango and loved it. Then gas went to 4 dollars a gallon..... Now I have a white grand caravan. I'm okay with it now. My kids love it b/c it has tv and all the extra "junk".

I'm counting down the years until I can get another suv or small car. By then I'll need the handy-dandy handicap thing on the mirror. I'll be 80 yrs old. ugh..... LOL

LOL...I have felt this way too- in fact now that we are out of a car we have to decide on what to get- we both sore off mini vans too....but it might now have to come to that point(however not for a while b/c we just found out the other driver was not insured...) GULP!!!

Well I am happy you got a new car...how our dreams change, eh?

That mini van looks WAY to big for just the three of you. Are you trying to tell us something in a super secret coded kinda way?!! If so try to have a boy. I think it would be cool to be an uncle finally.

Why is Mom talking like you joined HER on the dark side? Is she going loony already? Has she forgotten that she traded her vans for trucks, then the truck for a MUSTANG?!

I agree with B...Mom, none of your children played soccer!! Sheesh...I also want a boy cause I always thought my name went better with Uncle in front :)
Uncle Katelynn

See doesn't it sound better??

Thanks for the laughs "Auntie" Brian and "Uncle" Katelynn (you're right, it does have quite a ring to it!). No, I am not trying to say something in a super secret coded way. Definitely NOT! You'll have to look to one of our other siblings to make you guys Uncles!

And don't we all know that mom has been going looney for a while now? HaHaHa!

I really appreciated your comments on New Kind of Normal. Your daughter is just a little bit younger than mine. Too too true.

Looney!! LOONEY!!?? LOL Well, I DO remember I traded the minivan for trucks and trucks for the MUSTANG! BUT.....I really like minivans....always will, as a bigger car, just not what we need anymore. But I LOVE my Mustang even more! And yes... I WAS a soccer Mom..OK...so I didn't have a minivan at the time....but I was! So there! LOL (Secretly...I know I'm a bit tetched in the head...gotta love me though!!) And by the way...what's this idea of Aunt Brian and Uncle Katelynn? And you think I'M looney!!? Yea....right!! Still love you guys..even though I wonder about the brood I raised...lol
Love,
Mom (AKA Nana, the looney one)

Booger, Moms right on this one. Dave, Alicia, and I played soccer. Don't remember fo sho, but I think Michello played too. But that was all before your time, well most of it was before your time. And DirshDa can you post a picture of your mini van next to Taras mini van?

NO WAY!! Tara's "minivan" would eat mine for breakfast!

Wow! I have missed out on the family discussion regarding minivans and soccer moms and the like.

I'm not really sure I played soccer.... Maybe once or twice, but it didn't stick with me!

I think that Auntie Brina needs to produce the male in this family!

Uncle Chelle and Uncle DirshDa and Uncle Katelynn and Uncle Larinda! Yup that sounds good!

Although..... Alicia could go for another one now that she has the room for it!!!

Love you all!
Auntie (Uncle) Chelle

PS: I think mom is looney too, and it scares me for our furture!!

OK Chello, if I have a boy, I become a dad, not an Uncle. Stop being so selfish and think about me, and what I want. Leesh should have a boy!

For any of those still reading, my family is totally CRAZY!!! But please don't worry about us, I wouldn't want it any other way!!

You love us though right Alicia?!?!

Sorry I'm being so selfish here Brina Majes, but really come on... Didn't you read the latest blog???? Alicia is already overwhelmed with stuff so it is your job as the younger brother to take one for the team and have a boy!

Hmmmm.......

BTW... That last post was from Auntie Chelle!

Alicia, I'd be embarased too if it were my family.

B

Hey hey hey people!! Brian we are all your family so you too can be embarassed! And I am sort of disheartened that my family isn't even going to give me a chance to produce the male in this family! And yes michelle I know that I need a boy to help with the production but just give me time!!
Love all you crazies!
Auntie Booger

^Does that work better? Cause obviously I won't be Uncle Katelynn for a while :)

I never counted you out Tater! But it seemed to me that Brain (Uncle Brian) wanted to be an uncle like NOW! And seeing as you are WAY too young to even THINK about having kids, your out for the time being.

We'll come back to this discussion when you are older!

Love,
Auntie Chelle

Wow Alicia! Look what YOU started...all because of your minivan! LOL Look guys...ya know...I really don't care WHICH one of you decides WHO provides a boy...take advice from Nike...Just Do IT!! LOL Although I think right now, Brinna is the most likely to be the closest possibility. But Brinna, don't take that as any pressure..lol...no pressure at ALL!! Got a GREAT idea...how about all of you get together and do rock, paper, scissors!! Yep! THAT'S the ticket!! Your looney Mom has come up with a BRILLANT idea to solve this dilemma...am I great or what!? Being looney has it's perks! Love all you crazy children of mine! (can we say..looney is contagious?? lol)
Love,
Mom (aka Nana)
